With a few simple items, pet poo waste can be converted into green, organic, eco-friendly compost to make your garden healthy.

What you need

1. Rapid Results Pet Poo Composter Kit: This consists of a frame with a lid, 1000 hungry worms, and biodegradable poo waste collection bags.

2. Spades and crowbar, to dig a hole 400mm to 500mm deep; 400mm long and 300mm wide. It may take a while to dig. Great exercise!

3. Collect some shredded paper, shredded cardboard, lawn clippings, hessian, coconut fibre or sawdust to use as covering for your pet poo waste.

4. Select a place in the garden that is easy to access for regular deposits of your pet dog and cat poo.

Procedure for making compost from your pet’s poo

1. Insert the Rapid Results frame with lid as supplied in item 1.

2. Place a layer of 20mm of hessian or coconut fibre into the hole base.

3. Add a 20mm layer of lawn clippings or shredded paper or cut up cardboard.

4. Place 20mm of poo into the hole. Open the tied biodegradable bags to allow worms to crawl in and eat. Cover with a layer of shredded paper or sawdust.

5. Place 1000 worms on top of your pet’s poo.

6. Repeat 2, Repeat 3, Repeat 2 and 3 regularly.

7 . Warning: Do not place pet poo into the hole for 2 weeks if you have administered anti-worming medicine to your animal.

Maintenance of compost

Some water may be sprinkled from time to time to keep the area moist.

Use a spade to gently aerate the hole contents every 4 weeks

When the compost is complete

Once the hole is filled to 100 mm from the top it is time to relocate the frame with the lid to another part of the garden to repeat the Procedure.

We recommend that the compost that has been completed be left where it is.

Suggestion: add some soil and grow a plant.

Is dog poop good for anything?
